Adoption of Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0)
As part of our continuous commitment to open science, global research equity, and alignment with international indexing benchmarks (including Clarivate Web of Science / ESCI, Scopus, and the Directory of Open Access Journals - DOAJ), the Journal of Surgery and Medicine (JOSAM) announces a strategic upgrade to its open-access licensing framework.
Effective with publications starting from Volume 10, Issue 11 (2026), JOSAM has formally transitioned from the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) license to the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
What Does the CC BY 4.0 Transition Mean?- Unconditional Author Copyright Retention: Authors retain the copyright of their published work without restrictions, granting JOSAM the non-exclusive license of first publication.
- Broader Scholarly Sharing and Adaptation: The CC BY 4.0 license permits anyone to read, download, copy, redistribute, remix, transform, and build upon the published work in any medium or format, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and JOSAM as the source of first publication.
- Full Open Access Mandate Compliance: This transition satisfies the strictest criteria established by major international research funding bodies, institutional repositories, and Plan S principles, eliminating reuse and derivative barriers for educational and scientific advancement.
- Free and Equitable: JOSAM continues to operate under a Platinum/Diamond Open Access model with No Submission Fees and No Article Processing Charges (No APC). All publication and archiving costs remain fully sponsored by SelSistem Publishing.
All manuscripts published from Volume 10, Issue 11 (2026) onward are governed by the CC BY 4.0 license. Articles published prior to this issue remain protected under the licensing terms under which they were originally released (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).
All relevant editorial policies, the Authors' Agreement Form, and submission guidelines have been updated accordingly. For further details, please review our Copyright & License Policy or contact the editorial secretariat at josam@jsurgmed.com.
