Archiving Policy

The Journal of Surgery and Medicine (JOSAM) is committed to the permanent preservation, accessibility, and long-term curation of all published scholarly content. To ensure that research remains accessible in perpetuity, JOSAM employs multiple independent digital archiving systems.

1. PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)

JOSAM digitally preserves all published articles through the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN). The PKP PN digitally preserves OJS-hosted journals in a distributed preservation network using the LOCKSS software framework, guaranteeing that published issues remain secure and unalterable even in the event of unforeseen server downtime.

2. LOCKSS & CLOCKSS Archiving

JOSAM participates in the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) systems to create a distributed archiving framework among participating academic libraries. These programs permit libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration.

3. National & International Databases

All issues and articles published by JOSAM are deposited in international indexing repositories, including EBSCOhost, and compiled in the Electronic Publications Depository System (EYDeS) under the Directorate of National Library Electronic Publications Compilation (Turkey ISSN), ensuring statutory permanent legal deposit.

4. Self-Archiving & Repository Policy

Under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), authors are actively encouraged to deposit all versions of their work (preprint, accepted version, and final published PDF) in institutional or subject repositories (e.g., PubMed Central, ResearchGate, university repositories) immediately upon publication, with no embargo period.
